Do I Look Like A Hairdresser??

Evening folks! Tonight I am sharing a look that is an absolute favourite of mine. It’s all black, got leather, and oh so grungy. This particular outfit is what I wore to work last week, and I don’t know why but I feel like it just screams HAIRDRESSER! lol Just me?..Okay..
There is something just so effortless about the grungy style, and it is just so comfortable. Definitely one of my go-to looks when I’m feeling a little lost for inspiration. to really complete this overall look, I love a strong lip colour. Last week I went for red, and it really stands out against the black. I also like my deep, gothy plum lip for this look.
What’s your opinion on this look? A little too grunge, or a prefect combination? Drop me a comment..

Jimmy Carr

Evening guys. How was everyone’s weekend?
I spent my Saturday night with the one and only Mr. Jimmy Carr. It’s safe to say you can’t be easily offended at this man’s show. But he is hilarious!! I think everyone should go see him at least once..
As promised, here is my outfit from last night. I teamed up my little Primark dress with this leather skirt, and I just loved this look. I think it’s quite a sophisticated look with a bit of an edge. And I can’t help notice that I keep buying clutches. What do you think of this laser cut clutch I picked up from Matalan…??

Uni Uniform

Well hey there everybody!! You’re looking good! 😉
I’m sorry I haven’t been around on here lately. It’s thanks to my lovely reliable laptop that decided to break on me, and once I got it fixed, it broke again! RAGE! (But I hope you’ve all been keeping up with me on Instagram.) But anyways, my student loan came to the rescue and I now have a shiny new laptop. YAY! Wish me luck with this one!
Buy hey, on to today’s look. I know for a fact that today people were definitely looking at me and saying “Is she serious!? Heels!?” And when your university is on a hill, I guess they have a point. Not very practical. But I can’t get enough of these babes. Still so shocked that they came from Primark!  (So glad I didn’t buy the ones from Office…IDENTICAL!) But a word of warning, bulk up on the plasters. These guys are not friendly on the toes.
I love how these shoes look with jeans, so I went with my torn up skinny jeans from ZARA. And in case you are looking for them, they were not this torn up when I got them; Accidentally homemade! And where would I be without my trusty oversized tee. This beaut is from Topshop and says ‘Casse-toi’. Perfect for the first day of the uni week 😉 The library requires layers, cue my waistcoat, scarf and leather jacket. Hello Winter!

I adore this casual look. What do you guys think? Would you have looked at me like I was nuts today for wearing heels to uni!?

The Midi Skirt Debate

One of the latest summer trends on the scene is the midi skirt. It’s in every fashion magazine, and on every a-lister, but I’ve noticed that it isn’t on too many of us ‘regulars’. So, I did a little research.
The reaction to the midi skirt seems to be following a trend in itself. Most people seem to love them, a lot of people have even bought one (or two), but all take a fear when it comes to wearing them.
‘I don’t suit them’, ‘I don’t know what to wear with it’, ‘I am too short for the long style’. All these excuses are recurring. But the truth is, there really is a style for everyone. Obviously the tall girls are the real winners here; they can rock it all! But there is still hope for us shorties.

I am in love with the midi skirt, and even standing at 5″0, I am not afraid to show it. I have bought a few midi skirts, (including a gorgeous full skirt from H&M that I will admit swamped me.) And that’s what we short girls need to avoid. But that doesn’t mean avoiding the skirt altogether. My favourite is my white leather (YES LEATHER!) midi skirt from ZARA. The trick is to avoid styles that are too full, and focus on styles that have a softer fall to them. And the main issue is your choice of footwear. Stick to stroppy, barely there sandals, or nude heels. Anything too blocky will shorten the already short bit of leg on show. When I wore this outfit recently, I actually got told, ‘Nyaomi, you look tall!!’ Magic.
As for styling, I think with the straighter styles you can get away with a loose fitting top. But for the fuller skirts, I would say fitted tops are the way to go. For a night out, these skirts look great with a crop top, and because of the high waist, there isn’t too much skin on show in between.
For a more casual look, I love how a long sleeve top, or fine night jumper styles the midi skirt. And i would always suggest, unless you are one of those lucky tall, tall girls, that these skirts are worn with a heel. Either a heeled sandal/ stiletto for a night look, or a heeled boot for a casual look.
If you love the look girls, don’t be afraid to try it. Life’s too short to wear boring clothes 😉

Laid Back Weekend

It’s the weekend y’all!! For today’s post, I went for a little laid back edgy look. I really really love this lace dress I got from Zara (quite some time ago, sorry!). It’s made more than one appearance on the blog.

It’s quite a difficult piece to pull off on it’s own, especially as a casual look, unless you live in like LA or somewhere amazing. Extra difficult when you’re from a small town in Ireland 😉 So this needed some serious dressing down. My flat Chelsea boots are a must for dressing down, and toughening up, girly looks. I took a chance by layering this shirt over the top, but I love the edgy twist it brings to the outfit. I may have a new favourite look.. 😉

Happy Saturday Folks!!

ZARA’s new collection

So tonight I made the magnificent discovery that is.. ZARA’s New Collection. Incase you haven’t already noticed, I’m a bit of a Zara fanatic. It is my go-to shop for EVERYTHING! I abandoned looking at the website recently because it was just their sale items, which I either had (and couldn’t bear looking at the sale prices!), or I wasn’t keen on. Having had a quick browse through the new stuff, I’ve already picked a few favourites, and I thought I’d share them with you… cos I know you’d be dying to see them 😉

If you haven’t already, you will want to go check out this collection..
Show me your favourite pieces.

plaid trousers

As promised, an outfit post. Today’s outfit comes from Zara. I love my plaid trousers, and I’ve had so much wear out of them. This trend has been around for a while, and I think it’s definitely on the way out. So I had to get them in an outfit post before it was too late.
I paired them with this sheer top, also from Zara, because I think the colours really compliment each other. The thing I like most about these trousers is the dark tone of them, which means they aren’t too ‘in your face’.. great for casual wear. I might even be able to sneak a few more wears out of them..

leather and lace

Today, I am procrastinating to the max. Why was I so eager to go back to University?!? I took a ‘break’ from studying, to take some photos OUTSIDE! Shocker!!

Today’s outfit (mostly) comes from Zara. I got this leather jacket in Zara about 3 years ago, but I still get so much wear out of it. Everyone needs a good leather jacket in the wardrobe, and I don’t think I could survive without mine. I love this lingerie style dress, although I get mixed reviews when wearing it! I think the leather jacket and Chelsea boots toughen up the whole image. And I love my little red hat I got in the sale at Topshop. It adds a pop of colour.
